This workshop will explore natural dyes and traditional batik techniques. Participants will take part in a two hour class where they will prepare, design, and colour fabric to create an individual garment.
All skill levels are welcome, you will learn basic techniques in dyeing and wax resist. A brief history of batik and and its significance within Sri Lankan culture will also be shared. Locally sourced materials will be used for this class.
Participants will be able to take their completed garments home to serve as a keepsake from Arugam Bay. We hope to create a space which fosters future explorations and artistic practices.
